About Adelaide Mosque
Adelaide Mosque was built in 1890 by the Afghan Muslim cameleers whose camel trains were essential to opening up the Australian interior. It is the oldest surviving mosque in Australia and a registered heritage building. The mosque has been in continuous use for over 130 years, a testament to the deep roots of Islam in Australia.
