Sehri (Suhoor) & Iftar Times

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from Sehri (Suhoor) — the pre-dawn meal that must end before the Fajr adhan — until Iftar — breaking the fast at Maghrib adhan. Prayer times change each day throughout Ramadan as sunrise and sunset shift.

🌅 Sehri (Suhoor) ends at:

Fajr adhan — you must finish eating before this

It is Sunnah to delay Sehri until close to Fajr time

🌇 Iftar begins at:

Maghrib adhan — break the fast immediately

Sunnah: break fast with dates and water before praying Maghrib

The Virtues of Ramadan

"Whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven." — Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Bukhari & Muslim)

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the most sacred month of the year. It is the month in which the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ("The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran" — Quran 2:185).

  • Fasting during Ramadan is the Fourth Pillar of Islam
  • The gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed
  • The last 10 nights include Laylat al-Qadr — better than 1,000 months
  • Tarawih prayer (20 rak'ahs after Isha) is Sunnah every night of Ramadan
  • The Quran should be completed (Khatam) during Ramadan
  • Zakat al-Fitr must be paid before Eid al-Fitr prayer
  • I'tikaf (spiritual retreat) in the last 10 days is a strong Sunnah
