History of Star Mosque
The Star Mosque (Tara Masjid) in the Armanitola area of Old Dhaka was built in the early 19th century by Mirza Golam Pir. What makes it unique is its ornate decoration using blue china mosaic stars, giving the mosque its name. The inner side of the domes is set with china porcelain, creating a spectacular visual effect. The current decorations were added in the early 20th century.
