Al-Rashid Mosque, built in 1938 by Calgary's Lebanese Muslim community, was the first mosque ever built in Canada. The original building, now a historic replica, has been replaced by a modern facility while the historic structure was preserved and moved to Fort Edmonton Park. The mosque has served as a symbol of Islam in Canada for over 85 years.
