About Masjid Jamek
Masjid Jamek (Friday Mosque) was built in 1909 and is the oldest surviving mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Designed by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback in a Mughal style with onion domes and striped minarets, the mosque stands at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers — the point where the city of Kuala Lumpur was founded. Surrounded by the city's modern skyscrapers, it remains a place of quiet contemplation in the heart of the capital.
