History of Masjid Putra
Masjid Putra (Putra Mosque) was completed in 1999 as the principal mosque of Malaysia's new administrative capital. Built primarily from rose-tinted granite from Iran, its main dome rises 116 metres and its minaret reaches 53 metres. The mosque blends Malay and Middle Eastern architectural elements and can accommodate 15,000 worshippers. Reflected in Putrajaya Lake, it is one of the most photographed buildings in Malaysia.
