About Hassan II Mosque

The Hassan II Mosque was commissioned by King Hassan II and inaugurated in 1993. It was designed by French architect Michel Pinseau and built by tens of thousands of Moroccan craftsmen. The mosque can accommodate 105,000 worshippers — 25,000 inside and 80,000 in the surrounding grounds. Its 210-metre minaret is the tallest in the world, topped by a laser beam pointing towards Mecca.
