About Nigerian National Mosque
The Nigerian National Mosque was built as part of the construction of Abuja as Nigeria's new capital, completed in 1984. Its distinctive golden dome and four slender white minarets are instantly recognisable and have become symbols of the city. The mosque can accommodate over 5,000 worshippers inside and up to 40,000 in the surrounding grounds. It serves as the spiritual centre for Nigeria's Muslim community on national occasions.
