About Kano Central Mosque
The Kano Central Mosque has served as the principal place of worship for the Kano Emirate for centuries. The original mosque dates to the Hausa period, but the current building has been rebuilt and expanded numerous times, most recently in the 20th century. It is where the Emir of Kano attends Friday prayers, making it a focal point of both religious and political life in northern Nigeria.
