History of Badshahi Mosque

The Badshahi Mosque was built between 1671 and 1673 by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and remained the largest mosque in the world for 313 years until the completion of the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad. Its vast red sandstone courtyard can hold 100,000 worshippers. The four minarets and three marble domes are masterpieces of Mughal architecture, and the interior contains relics including a cloak believed to have belonged to the Prophet ﷺ.
