About Mosque of Sidi Yusuf
The Mosque of Sidi Yusuf was built in 1616 during the Ottoman period by Yusuf Dey, the Ottoman regent of Tunis. Its octagonal minaret is a unique feature in the Maghreb, reflecting Turkish architectural influence in an otherwise Andalusian-Maghrebi landscape. The mosque is one of the most beautiful in the Tunis medina.
