History of Kocatepe Mosque
Kocatepe Mosque is the largest mosque in Ankara and one of the most prominent in Turkey. Construction began in 1967 but the mosque was not completed until 1987 due to debates over its design. The final design, by architects Hüsrev Tayla and Fatin Uluengin, is inspired by classical Ottoman architecture, particularly the Süleymaniye Mosque. Its four minarets and central dome dominate the Ankara skyline.
