About Ulu Cami (Grand Mosque of Bursa)
The Ulu Cami was built between 1396 and 1399 by Sultan Bayezid I following his victory at the Battle of Nicopolis. Its 20 small domes over the prayer hall were a significant architectural innovation. The interior features 192 panels of calligraphy — one of the richest collections in any mosque — and a şadırvan (ablution fountain) located inside the prayer hall, unusual for Ottoman mosque design.
