Markazi Masjid (Dewsbury)

Markazi Masjid in Saville Town, Dewsbury is one of the most significant mosques in the Western world and the global European headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat — the world's largest Islamic missionary movement, which sends volunteers across the globe to encourage Muslims to renew their faith.

Founded in 1948, the mosque is the nerve centre for Tabligh Jamaat activities across Europe and draws scholars, preachers and worshippers from around the world. The annual Ijtema (gathering) held in Dewsbury attracts tens of thousands of Muslims from across Europe and beyond, making it one of the largest religious gatherings on the continent.
