About Durham Mosque

The mosque on Old Elvet, located in a red-brick building behind the Dun Cow pub, is the principal Islamic prayer facility in Durham City and is run by Durham University's Islamic Society (DUISOC). Although managed by the student society, it is relied upon by Muslim staff, students and members of the local resident community alike. Friday Jummah prayer is held here at 1:30 PM; because the facility does not have a full-time imam, the five daily prayers are generally not held in congregation. Entry is by a security code that changes monthly and is published on the society's Instagram (@duisoc). DUISOC also maintains a second prayer room on the University's Science Site (DH1 3LF).
