Rochdale Central Mosque (Jalalia)

Rochdale Central Mosque (Jalalia) is the principal mosque serving Rochdale's Muslim community, established in 1971. Rochdale's Muslim population has its roots primarily in Pakistani communities who settled in the town from the 1950s onwards to work in the cotton textile industry.

The mosque provides the five daily prayers, Friday Jumu'ah, Eid congregations and taraweeh throughout Ramadan, and runs a madrasah and Islamic education for children and youth across Rochdale.

Rochdale Central Mosque has played an important role in community life in a town where Muslims make up a substantial proportion of the population, providing pastoral support and welfare services alongside its primary role as a place of worship.
