About Fatehpuri Masjid
Fatehpuri Masjid was built in 1650 by Fatehpuri Begum, one of the wives of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Situated at the western end of the grand Chandni Chowk boulevard, it served as a counterpart to the Jama Masjid at the other end. The mosque was briefly auctioned off by the British after 1857 but was subsequently restored to the Muslim community.
