About Al-Husseini Mosque
Al-Husseini Mosque was built in 1924 by King Abdullah I, the founder of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the site of an earlier Ottoman-era mosque. The mosque stands in the heart of downtown Amman's historic Al-Balad district, surrounded by the city's traditional souks and markets. It is one of the most historically significant mosques in Jordan and continues to serve thousands of worshippers for Friday prayers.
